5454 Aluminum Plate for Tank Truck

The 5000 series aluminum alloy belongs to the more commonly used alloy aluminum plate. The magnesium content is between 3-5%, so it can also be called Al-Mg alloy. It belongs to one of the quite mature aluminum plate series, representing alumium 5454, 5005, 5052, 5083, 5754, 5086, 5A05 aluminum alloy and so on.

Compared with steel, aluminum alloy tank trucks have the characteristics of low density, good corrosion resistance, easy welding, long service life, easy recycling, reduced emissions, and no charge accumulation. In recent years, the use of aluminum and its alloys in the automotive industry has become more and more widespread.

The production of the tanker body has high requirements on the raw materials and processing technology such as good corrosion resistance, high processing performance, strong pressure resistance, etc. These requirements are exactly in line with the characteristics of 5xxx series aluminum sheets. The aluminum alloys used for aluminum alloy tankers are 5083, 5182 and 5454 aluminum.

5454 aluminum plate’s magnesium element is 2.4-3.0%, and it also contains a small amount of silicon, copper, zinc, manganese and other elements. Its characteristics are roughly the same as 5154, but its corrosion resistance is better than that of 5154 aluminum plate in severe environments.

5454 aluminum sheet is also a typical anti-rust aluminum, featuring medium strength, tensile strength greater than 215MPa, about 20% higher than the strength of 5052 aluminum plate, good formability, good corrosion resistance and weldability. The most common tempers for 5454 aluminum are O , H111, H22 and H32.

5454 sheet can be used in high temperature environment, or transport high temperature liquid. The wear resistance of the surface makes it the best material for powder tank trucks. It has better corrosion resistance than other aluminum-magnesium alloys and ensures the strength of the material when the temperature reaches 65-170 ℃ during long-term use, making internal temperature more stable.

The main alloying element of 5454 aluminum plate and 5182 aluminum plate is magnesium, and the essential difference between the two lies in the composition and content of alloying elements. 5182 contains more magnesium and manganese elements than 5454, and there are certain differences in performance and use.
