How Is Aluminium 5454 Plate Produced

Aluminum 5454 is suitable for non-heat-treatable Al-Mg aluminum alloys. It has good plasticity, corrosion resistance, weldability and medium strength, and is easy to form. 5454 aluminum plate with different heat treatment states are the main materials used in the fields of automobile and tank truck manufacturing.

As the annealing temperature increases, the tensile strength and yield strength of 5454 aluminum gradually decrease, while the elongation increases gradually. The change trend becomes more significant with the increase of cold working rate. When the cold working rate is larger, the temperature of the inflection point on the curve is lower, that is, the recrystallization temperature becomes lower.

When the cold working rate is 70%, the inflection point begins to appear at 260 °C, and as the temperature further increases, recrystallization begins to occur inside the metal. When the cold working rate is 10%, the inflection point begins to appear at 300 °C.

As the annealing temperature continues to rise, recrystallization is completed inside the metal. At this time, the processing distortion is completely eliminated, and the changes in tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation tend to be flat. According to the analysis, recovery and recrystallization occurred during the annealing process of the 5454 plate.

The cold working rate is small, the internal distortion of the metal is small, and the distortion energy is also small. The nucleation energy required for recrystallization is high, so the recrystallization temperature is high. On the contrary, the cold working rate is large, the internal distortion of the metal is large, and the distortion energy is also large, and the nucleation energy required for recrystallization is small, so the recrystallization temperature is low.

From the above research, it is shown that for materials whose final properties are controlled by annealing temperature, good properties can be obtained by adopting a large processing rate and adopting an appropriate heat treatment process.
