5059 Aluminum for Tank Truck and Ships
Tank trucks are a kind of transport vehicles used to transport various liquids, liquefied gases and powdered goods. The carrying capacity of tank trucks is generally relatively large, and the fuel consumption and exhaust emissions are relatively serious. In recent years, with the popularity of lightweight, aluminum alloy plates have become more and more widely used in tank trucks like 5059 aluminum. What are 5059 aluminum properties?
5059 aluminum is a 5 series aluminum-magnesium alloy with good corrosion resistance and tensile strength. , high strength, high plasticity and corrosion resistance, good weldability and low crack tendency. With its own unique advantages, it is widely used in special tankers for petrochemical and other dangerous goods.
The optimum homogenization heat treatment process of 5059 alloy is 460℃×24h. With the increase of the homogenization temperature of the alloy, the low melting point second phase dissolves rapidly, but the over-sintered structure appears in the alloy matrix when the homogenization temperature is 480 °C.
When the homogenization temperature is 460 °C, after holding for 24 h, the β phase in the as-cast alloy dissolves back to the matrix to a large extent, and the inhomogeneous structure and dendritic network structure are basically eliminated. When the holding time is prolonged, the structure of the alloy has no obvious change.
5059 aluminum is also used in shipbuilding. It has excellent comperehensive performance, low density and strong anti-corrosion performance in seawater and marine climate. It is not only used in marine engineering, but also can be used in ships and cruise ships with dozens or hundreds of tons.
The specifications of 5059 aluminum in ships and tank truck are very different. The common specifications of 5059 aluminum sheet for ships are 6/8/10/12/16/18mm thick, 1500/1600mm wide and 2000mm long.
