Aluminum Plate for Tank Head

At present, automobile lightweight materials include aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy, and carbon fiber, among which aluminum alloy has the lowest cost. The main materials used in tanker bodies are carbon steel and aluminum alloy.

Aluminum alloy plates have been used in heavy-duty freight vehicles for more than 80 years. In 1950, the first aluminum tank truck came out, and in the 1960s, aluminum began to be used on a large scale in vehicles.

Now, in developed countries such as Europe, the United States, Australia, and Japan, carbon steel oil tanks have been completely eliminated, and aluminum alloy oil tank trucks are basically used. In Europe and America, in order to achieve lightweight vehicles, aluminum alloys are widely used in the automotive industry, especially in heavy-duty and special-purpose vehicles. Aluminum alloy materials have been widely used in commercial vehicles, especially in tank vehicles, which has accelerated the pace of commercial vehicles in Europe and North America.

Except for a very small number of special chemicals transported, almost all tanks in Europe and the United States are made of aluminum alloy, with a market share of more than 90%. In Japan, about 800 finished oil tank trucks are added every year, more than 85% of which are produced with aluminum alloy sheet, and the remaining 15% are produced with stainless steel and carbon steel.

Advantages of aluminum plate for tank truck

Aluminum plate for tank head has the advantage of being light in weight. The minimum dead weight of an aluminum alloy tank truck can be 4.88 tons, which can reduce the dead weight by 1.2-1.6 tons compared with iron cans. On the other hand, compared to iron cans, the surface of aluminum cans is smoother, so the material residue rate inside is lower. Generally, iron cans often have about 150 kilograms of powder left after unloading, while aluminum tankers only have about 80 kilograms left.

Since aluminum alloy is not easy to rust and corrode, and the appearance is inherently beautiful, aluminum powder tank trucks do not need to be painted like iron tank trucks. That will make the process of aluminum tank truck easier. Moreover, aluminum plates have high recyclability value, and the recycling value is more than 10 times that of ordinary carbon steel materials.

The application of aluminum alloys is mainly concentrated in heads, tanks and baffles. Among them, tank truck heads mainly use 5182 alloy. 5182 aluminum plate is an Al-Mg series anti-rust aluminum with good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, and excellent weldability.

Since tank trucks are exposed to various chemicals during transportation, the material of the head must have good corrosion resistance. The 5182 aluminum plate can effectively resist the corrosion of petroleum and other chemical substances in the tank truck, ensuring the long-term use of the tank truck.

In addition, the 5182 aluminum plate also has good mechanical properties and can withstand the vibration and impact of tank trucks during transportation. At the same time, the processing performance of 5182 aluminum is also good, and it is easy to carry out processing operations such as cutting, bending and welding, which facilitates the production and manufacturing of oil tank trucks.
