Research on 5754 H32Aluminum Manufacturing Process

5754 aluminum features medium strength, good corrosion resistance, weldability and easy processing and forming. It is an Al-Mg alloy. In the 5754 alloy, magnesium is the main strengthening element, which plays a certain role in solid solution strengthening. 5754 aluminum plate is widely used in tanker truck and automobile manufacturing.

The solid solubility of magnesium in aluminum is 17.4% at 450°C and 1.9% at 100°C. Although the solubility of magnesium in the alloy decreases rapidly with the decrease of temperature, the aging strengthening effect of the alloy is low due to the difficulty in the nucleation of precipitated phases.

Magnesium increases the work hardening sensitivity of aluminum, and the alloy can obtain obvious strain strengthening. Manganese and chromium play a supplementary strengthening role, which can increase the recrystallization temperature, titanium can refine the casting structure, and iron and silicon are impurities, which should be controlled.

With the increase of processing rate, the tensile strength and yield strength increased, while the elongation decreased. This is because the greater the degree of cold deformation, the greater the degree of grain breakage, point defects and dislocations appear inside the metal, and the grains become longer. The more severe the lattice distortion, the greater the dislocation density, and the aluminum plate is hardened by work

As the annealing temperature increases, the tensile strength and yield strength decrease, while the elongation increases. For the aluminum plate at the same annealing temperature, the tensile strength and yield strength increase and the elongation decreases with the increase of the cold working rate.

According to the analysis, during the annealing process of the plate, recovery and partial recrystallization occurred. The cold working rate is small, the internal distortion of the material is small, and the mechanical properties are manifested as low tensile strength and yield strength, high elongation, and high recrystallization temperature.

With the extension of the stabilization annealing holding time, the tensile strength and yield strength decrease, and the elongation increases, which is due to the extension of the holding time, the reduction of the recovery temperature and recrystallization temperature. However, the stabilizing annealing time within the range of 1h-2h has little effect on the performance, and the performance curve is stable, which shows that the stabilizing annealing time is 1h-2h, and sufficient stable performance can be obtained.

Detecting the stabilizing annealing structure, it is found that the B(Mg2A13) phase in the alloy is more fully precipitated from the supersaturated solid solution in the plate with a holding time of 1h to 2h, so it is advisable to determine the stabilizing annealing holding time of 1h to 2h.

When placed at room temperature, the (Mg2A13) phase in the cold-worked alloy plate precipitates from the supersaturated solid solution, resulting in aging softening. During stabilization, the B phase is uniformly precipitated in the grain and at the grain boundary, thereby stabilizing the mechanical properties of 5754-H32.
