In the field of modern logistics and transportation, the transportation safety and efficiency of liquid, gas and powdered goods have become the focus of the industry. As a representative of the aluminum-magnesium alloy family, 5083 aluminum alloy is gradually becoming the preferred material for tank truck manufacturing with its excellent comprehensive performance.

The core advantages of 5083 aluminum alloy

5083 belongs to the Al-Mg series with a magnesium content of up to 4.0%-4.9%, giving it a unique combination of properties. The density is about 2.7g/cm³, which is significantly lower than carbon steel. It can reduce the weight of the tank by about 2.5 tons and improve the transport load capacity.

Its room temperature tensile strength reaches 110-136MPa, and the yield strength is ≥110MPa. It has the ability to resist seawater, acid and alkali corrosion, and is suitable for long-term use in harsh environments.

The arc welding performance is excellent, and the material state can be adjusted through cold processing or annealing (415℃) to meet the needs of complex structures. It also has many tempers to meet requirements of different parts like al 5083 h112 and h111.

In the structural design of tank trucks, the application of 5083 aluminum alloy reflects the deep combination of materials and processes:

Tanker body: 5083H111 temper is used, the thickness is usually 4-7mm, and the width is 1800-2500mm. Its high strength and fatigue resistance ensure the stability of the tank under high pressure and vibration environment.

Tanker head and bulkhead: 5083-O or 5454-H111 aluminum plate is selected, and its good ductility is used to adapt to the bending forming process to ensure sealing and structural strength.

Special scene adaptation: The low ignition point and low temperature toughness of 5083 aluminum alloy are particularly prominent in making refrigerated trucks, press vessel and LNG.

Chemical composition: Silicon ≤0.4%, Iron ≤0.4%, Manganese 0.4-1.0%, Chromium 0.05-0.25% in aluminum matrix, total impurities controlled within 0.15%.

Mechanical properties: Elongation ≥20% (δ10), ensuring that the material maintains good plasticity after welding.
