The Uses of 5754 and 5454 Aluminum Sheet in Special Vehicles

5454 aluminum is a common 5xxx aluminum alloy sheet, which is widely used in fuel tanks, tank truck bodies, marine facility pipelines, automobile wheels, etc. 5454 alloy aluminum plate has outstanding performance in various types of vehicles such as cars, vans and tankers. Other designations include 3.3537, N51 and A95454.

After proper heat treatment, 5454 aluminum alloy can obtain higher strength and tensile properties. 5454 aluminum alloy has good plasticity, excellent welding performance, and can also be subjected to surface treatments such as anodizing, electroplating, and spraying.

Its strength is about 20% higher than that of 5052 aluminum plate, and its characteristics are similar to that of 5154 aluminum plate, but its corrosion resistance in harsh environments is better than that of 5154. Among them, 5454 h32 aluminum plate and strip is one of the most widely used temper.

The general material properties of 5454 aluminum plate: Density: 2.69 g/cm3, or 168 lb/ft3. Young's modulus: 70 GPa, or 10 Msi. Conductivity: 34% IACS. Ultimate tensile strength: 240-300 MPa, or 35-44 ksi. Thermal conductivity: 130W/m-K. Thermal expansion: 22.3μm/m-K.

5754 aluminum sheet is of medium strength, good welding performance, corrosion resistance and formability. It is widely used in automobiles, ships, aviation, aerospace and other fields. It can be used to make tank truck bodies and baffles, which can reduce the weight of tank trucks, increase load capacity, reduce fuel consumption, and reduce exhaust emissions. Moreover, 5754 aluminum plate has strong corrosion resistance and can greatly extend the service life of tank trucks. Therefore, it is favored by the tanker truck manufacturers.

The magnesium content of 5754 aluminum alloy is higher than that of 5052, so the machinability is better. The silicon content of 5754 aluminum plate is also higher than that of 5052. The silicon content affects the forging function and corrosion resistance of aluminum alloy, so the 5754 aluminum plate has better forging function and corrosion resistance.
